Foot Glove Wearing Man Charged For Pinecrest Cabin Fires

Pinecrest, CA…Just after 1 PM yesterday afternoon, the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a Pinecrest area campground. The caller reported seeing a suspicious man walking through the campground wearing gloves on his feet.

Deputies arrived on scene and were told the man was last seen entering a camping trailer which did not belong to him. They found 52 year old Jeffrey Best asleep in the camper and he was arrested for trespassing.
Just prior to this call for service, the Deputies were on scene of a fire which engulfed one cabin and spread to another on Pinecrest Avenue. Based on statements made by Best, it is believed that he carelessly lit a fire in a BBQ located in the garage of one of the cabins. The investigation is ongoing and Fire personnel are investigating the evidence at the scene.

It is believed both structures were damaged due to the actions of Best.

Best was booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for arson and trespassing.
