Valley Springs, CA…At around 1:05pm today, a Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office deputy was patrolling Pine Street in Valley Springs and observed a subject in front of a residence with what looked like a firearm. Deputies made contact with this subject while Sheriff Dispatch notified nearby Valley Springs Elementary School.

As a precautionary measure, the school decided to lockdown. Deputies determined the item was an imitation firearm (airsoft) and the school was notified. The school was on lockdown for approximately 5 minutes before Sheriff Dispatch advised them that the situation was resolved.
