San Andreas, CA…In an ongoing effort to better serve Calaveras citizens, Sheriff Dibasilio has assigned a tenured Sergeant to Rural Crimes Prevention Task Force. The mission of the task force is to develop solutions to the unique crimes afflicting the public in Calaveras County’s rural areas while protecting both people and property. The Task Force is committed to making our individuals, businesses and their property safer.
The Rural Crime Prevention Task Force will work closely with community groups such as the Calaveras County Farm Bureau, the Cattlemen’s Association, and Neighborhood Watch groups throughout the county. Its wide ranging focus will be on investigations involving livestock, heavy equipment theft, food and agricultural crimes, Fish and Game Laws, animal fighting, bees and hives, CA trespassing laws, and metal theft.
Information gathering, as always, will be a key component of the program. Citizens are encouraged to report any and all suspicious activity to the Sheriff’s Office. Far too often, citizens dismiss minor rural criminal activity by assuming that the Department should not be bothered with trivial issues. Those issues may be very relevant. The Task Force depends on you as a partner in our community orientated policing concept.
