Summit Complex Fire Update…

Pinecrest, CA…The Summit Complex consists of three fires burning on the Summit Ranger District. The McCormick Fire (4,332 acres) is located north of Fence Creek Road and Clark Fork Road. The Douglas Fire (311 acres) is located south of Douglas Picnic Area and Eureka Valley Campground on Hwy 108. The Willow Fire (10 acres) is located west of Groundhog Meadow and bound by Hammill Canyon Loop Rd.

Summary
Over the past few days, precipitation has occurred over the area. The fire behavior within the complex is minimal with creeping and smoldering. Crews continue to monitor the fire. Fire behavior is expected to be minimal for the next few days. Chance of rain and thunderstorms are forecasted for the afternoon.
The Complex’s objectives continue to include: firefighter and public safety, manage smoke to avoid unhealthy and hazardous conditions, and to maintain fire dependent ecosystems by restoring the natural fire process to the landscape.
Closures
South of Clarks Fork Road, west of Arnot Creek and Camp Liahona will remain under the closure order. Fence Creek Road (Forest Road 6N06), Fence Creek Campground, Wheats Meadow and County Line Trailheads will also remain closed. For the Eagle Meadow Road area, the following areas are closed: Road 6N40Y, starting 300 feet south of its intersection with the Middle Fork of the Stanislaus River and continuing approximately 1.5 miles to the southwest; and all areas within 0.5 miles south and southeast of the 6N40Y.
