Kirkwood, CA…From Caltrans…If you’ve got any questions regarding how much snow is falling in the Sierra Nevada today, just take a look at some of the photos that our Caples Lake Supervisor Stephen Ziehlke shot of crews clearing the roads. These pictures were from this morning’s cleanup effort on State Route 88/Carson Spur in Amador County. Due to the heavy snow and cleanup, Caltrans is recommending the motorists select a different route in heading into the Sierra Nevada today.
Check out that mountain of snow in front of the snow equipment, with the top of the snow drift well above the top of the truck. In the second photo, you also see the snow that our maintenance crews have already moved to the side of the highway.
Let’s all be careful out there and stay up on the current road news at http://quickmap.dot.ca.gov … it’s updated continuously and even shows where Caltrans’ snow plows are working.
