San Andreas, CA…The Calaveras Community Foundation has generously awarded $10,000 to Habitat for Humanity Calaveras for the purpose of providing critical home repair for senior citizens in Calaveras County. The money will be used for licensed contractors aided by volunteers to provide quality home repairs at a low price. Those who qualify may receive subsidies or interest free financing. Seniors in need of home repair can obtain an application at the Habitat for Humanity Calaveras office located in the Calaveras County Senior Center in San Andreas.
According to Scott Behiel, Habitat’s Executive Director, senior citizens are especially vulnerable because of the lack of funds and often physical ability to properly maintain their homes. Typical needs that affect safety and quality of life include watertight roofs and windows, replacement of damaged stairs or decks, installation of ramps, paint, siding and more.
Behiel adds, “Habitat for Humanity Calaveras wants to thank The Calaveras Community Foundation for its help in creating a positive impact in our community.”
