Angels Camp, CA…The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Calaveras County Office of Education (CCOE) that a generalized emailed bomb threat was received today by CCOE staff. The Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into the email threat that did not mention a specific school or school district. The following message is being sent to parents/students from CCOE:
Hello Parents
Student safety is our primary concern. This call is to notify you that today the Calaveras County Office of Education received a generalized email bomb threat.
We do not have any information at this time that this email threat is credible and actually targeted our schools; however, all threats are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly. This threat did not mention any specific school or school district. We are working closely with the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office and Angels Camp Police department to ensure our students are safe and appropriate precautions are taken.
As a cautionary measure, law enforcement will be present on campuses. If you discover anything that can assist in the investigation, please contact us immediately. If there are any valid developments in this situation, further communication will be sent.
The Sheriff’s Office, treats and investigates every threat seriously and independently; the FBI has been notified about this latest email. Part of the investigation will be whether this email is linked to the same organization who sent numerous emails last month (in April 2018) threatening school districts across the nation.
