Coulterville, CA…After nearly two months of tireless work, Caltrans crews and construction partners re-opened eastbound and westbound State Route 132 between Granite Springs and Piney Creek roads in Mariposa County on Friday.
This project involved a massive and incredible effort by all those involved, and included:
– Building (and repairing after another rainy weekend) access roads to connect both sides of the wash out
– A road construction (excavation) area 300-feet wide and 50-feet deep
– Adding 1.8 million pounds of concrete
– Moving and placing approximately 30,000 cubic yards of material throughout the project
In the photos below you’ll see the newly re-built paved and striped roadway, a couple angles of the drainage system and landscaping known as hydroseeding — a combination of seed and mulch which works as erosion control.
A gigantic thank you to motorists and local residents for their patience and cooperation during this process.
