San Andreas, CA….In Calaveras County, three people were arrested by the CHP between 6:00 pm Friday and 11:59 pm Monday for driving under the influence (DUI). Thirty two citations were issued during this time period. Most were for speeding or mechanical/registration violations. The San Andreas Officers handled eight collisions during this holiday weekend. The only DUI collision resulted in major injuries to the driver. In the other seven collisions, one of the collisions resulted in minor injuries, one of the collisions resulted in major injuries and the other five collisions were non-injury.
The San Andreas CHP office is disturbed to report that for 2018, we have handled four fatality collisions with 6 parties sustaining fatal injuries. As a result, the San Andreas Area will continue aggressive enforcement and educational efforts to save lives and keep roads in Calaveras and Alpine counties safe for everyone. We also want to remind everyone that they need to put down the phone, focus on driving, always wear your seatbelt properly, and to designate a sober driver, otherwise it may cost you your life, or the life of someone else.
