Sonora, CA…On Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at approximately 1:15 pm, Marianne Gates was driving a 2001 Mercedes Benz C320, northbound on State Route 49 approaching Springfield Road. For unknown reasons, Gates allowed the vehicles right side tires to travel off of the roadway onto the dirt shoulder. Gates over corrected and unsafely turned to the left losing control of her vehicle. The vehicle traveled over both lanes of traffic and went off of the west road edge and down a steep embankment, overturning several times. The vehicle came to rest on the driver’s side.

Gates was using a seatbelt and only sustained moderate injuries. She was transported to Adventist Health Sonora by ground ambulance to be treated for her injuries. Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected to have been a factor in this collision.
