Sonora, CA…From the Tuolumne Sheriff’s Dept…”Early this morning, a Sheriff’s Deputy patrolling the area of AM/PM on Mono Way in Sonora, saw a Silver Honda CR-V parked at one of the gas pumps with a man asleep behind the wheel. The deputy approached the vehicle to check on the man who was identified as 46-year-old Johnny Ruhga of Jamestown. Ruhga woke when the deputy knocked on the driver door of the CR-V. As the deputy was speaking with Ruhga, he saw a digital scale with a large amount of heroin residue located on the floorboard of the vehicle.
After further investigation, 5.83 grams of heroin, a digital scale, packaging material, suboxone, drug paraphernalia and evidence of drug sales were found inside the vehicle. Ruhga was arrested and booked into the Tuolumne County Jail after his dog who was passenger, was picked up by a family member.
Thankfully the Deputy happened to be at the right place at the right time to intervene before the man took off and potentially put other drivers on the road at risk.”
