The Double Fire Destroyed a Home and Displaces a Family Last Evening ~ Chip Dingman

Valley Springs, CA…The Double Fire in the 4,000 Block of Double Springs Road. destroyed a home, displaced a family and Red Cross was called to assist the family. This was dispatched at 6:45PM as a structure fire with possible wildland involvement. Up on arrival of the first in engine it was discovered that there was no wildland involvement, it was structure fire only. While firefighters made a quick attach on the fire it had already progressed into the attic and through the roof ultimately causing the roof to collapse and unsafe for firefighters to make entry into the structure to fight the fire. Once the firefighters had most of the fire knocked down they were able to them make entry into the structure to fight the fire from the interior.

Due to the fire in this structure 3 adults and 2 children were displaced. The Red Cross was contacted to assist them.

Mokelumne Hill Fire Protection District (Diverted to a medical call)

Water Tenders from San Andreas, Calaveras Consolidated, Mokelumne Hill

Also dispatched were 2 Tankers, Copter 404, Air Attach 440, 2 Crews, and a dozer. The crews and dozer were cancelled but the aircraft orbited the scene as a precaution.
