Johannesburg, South Africa…Former President Barack Obama spoke at the 16th Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture. Former President Barack Obama delivered a major speech, addressing inequality and other issues at the annual Mandela Lecture. This year honored the 100th birthday of the late leader who became a world wide icon. South Africa is now struggling through instances of retributional activities where lands and property of minority whites are being taken under wealth redistribution policies.

For many these policies are deemed justifiable. Arguments can be made that they are after activities in the apartheid era. They also highlight how property rights are a cornerstone of functional democracies.
