Mountain Ranch Property Targeted for Cleanup

Mountain Ranch, CA…From the Calaveras Sheriff Dept…”On October 26, 2018, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Unit contacted several people in the area of Ponderosa Way near Doster Way in Mountain Ranch. The area was strewn with trash and vehicles, and a 30 foot travel trailer was parked on Ponderosa Road and being lived out of. Additionally, Investigators noted the presence of burned piles of trash, liquid waste, and petroleum products on the ground. The area was located directly above a year-round creek which flows directly into the Mokelumne River Watershed, and the violations were occurring directly on a public roadway and on the border of public land.

Methamphetamine and Marijuana were discovered at the scene resulting in the issuance of one citation, however, the investigation is continuing with the cooperation of Calaveras County Code Compliance and the Bureau of Land Management.

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office takes pride in its role of protecting the watershed and environment for citizens and visitors alike, and will continue to locate and hold violators accountable.
