Markleeville, CA…Updates from the Alpine Sheriff’s Office on Missing Bradford Dozier…October 31, 2018 Spencer Case, Undersheriff Search and Rescue update regarding missing person Bradford Dozier. The search for missing person Bradford Dozier continues. As of 2:00 pm, October 31, 2018, no clues have been found. Currently the search is concentrated west of Blue Lakes near Deadwood Peak in Alpine County.

Deployed resources for the current operational period consists of ground teams from Nevada County, Calaveras County, Marin County, Bay Area Mountain Rescue, Monterey County, Alameda County, Amador County, Contra Costa County, 1 CHP helicopter and 1 National Guard helicopter. Search and Rescue assignments for tornorrow, November 1, 2018, are currently being developed.

Mr. Dozier is described as a 55 year old, white male adult, 510″, 190 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. Mr. Dozier was last known to be wearing a green shirt, olwe colored hiking pants and hiking shoes or boots. Mr. Dozier
is known to be an avid hiker who likes to go off trail and summit peaks in Alpine County.

The Sheriff’s Office respects the desire of Mr. Dozier’s family and friends to help, but respectfully requests they refrain from entering the search area due the hazardous terrain and potential for injury.

October 30, 2018 Spencer Case, Undersheriff Press release regarding missing person Bradford Dozier

On October 28, 2018, at about 9:15 am the Alpine County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an overdue hiker. The reporting parry stated that her husband, Bradford Dozier, planned on hiking in Alpine County the day prior and returning home at an unknown time and date. When Mr. Dozier did not return home on October 27, 2018, Mrs. Dozier filed a missing person report with the Sacramento Police department which was later forwarded to the Alpine County Sheriffs Office. Upon receiving the information Alpine County Sheriffs Office began looking for Mr. Dozier’s vehicle in the area of Carson Pass. When Mr. Dozier’s vehicle could not be located in the vicinity of Carson Pass, the search area was expanded and his vehicle was located in the area of Blue Lakes Campground at about 3:45 pm. At 3: 55 pm, Alpine County Search and Rescue was toned out to respond for a search in the Area of Blue Lakes. A CHP helicopter and twelve ground searchers deployed. No sign of Mr. Dozier was found, and the search was temporarily suspended at midnight.

On October 29, 2018, search efforts continued. Resources included I CHP helicopter, 1 National Guard helicopter, 3 scent tracking canines, and approximately forty.five ground searchers. No sign of Mr. Dozier was found and the search was suspended at 5:30 pm until the following day due to darkness and hazardous terrain.

Today, October 30, 2018, SAR operations resumed at 7:00 am. Deployed assets include ground teams from El Dorado County, Calaveras County, Tuolumne County, Amador County, Placer County, Sacramento County, 2 CHP helicopters, 1 National Guard Helicopter and 3 equestrian teams and two scent tracking canines.
