Sonora, CA…Contracting officials posted a pre-solicitation notice on the Federal Business Opportunity website for snow grooming on the Calaveras and Summit Ranger districts. The notice to vendors announces the forest’s plans to post a contracting solicitation on or about Nov. 15 that will remain open for 15 days. “We are in the middle of our Travel Management, subpart C planning effort and recognize how important snowmobiling is as a recreational opportunity on the forest. A system of groomed trails is vital to providing that opportunity in a safe and sustainable way,” said Beth Martinez, Public Services staff officer for the Stanislaus National Forest. “I encourage individuals and organized user groups and clubs to help spread the word regarding the need to groom our trails and the upcoming contracting opportunity. Prospective vendors can find instructions on FedBizOpps about how to request contract announcements and prepare their bids.”
The contract calls for snow grooming about 38 miles around Lake Alpine, Highland Lakes, Spicer Reservoir and Bear Valley areas on Highway 4. On Summit Ranger District, grooming is planned along Highway 108, about 19 miles between the Snow Park and Kennedy Meadows and about seven miles on Eagle Meadow Road, 5N01. Grooming typically is done at night, as needed depending on snowfall and weather, and is subject to available funding.
The forest conducts the grooming in partnership with the California Department of Parks and Recreation.
