Murphys, CA…The California Highway Patrol (CHP) San Andreas Area held an awards ceremony to acknowledge the extraordinary efforts of three members of the Department. Sergeant Brian Hemenway was awarded a State of California ‘Meritorious Achievement Award’ for saving a Caltrans worker from a burning vehicle. Recognition was also paid to Explorers Brianna Gill and Guillermo Hernandez, who were honored by the White House, with the ‘President’s Volunteer Service Award.’ This award is for the numerous hours of volunteer and community service they provided…
It was a star studded event as Joe Farrow, Commissioner, California Highway Patrol, Willie Godinez, Chief, California Highway Patrol, Valley Division, Jonni Fenner, Assistant Chief, California Highway Patrol, Valley Division were on hand and Dewayne Lewis, Commander, California Highway Patrol, San Andreas Area led the event.
Also on hand were CHP and law enforcement officials from surrounding counties. Calaveras Superior Court Judges, Other elected and county leaders and more. These included Dana Jorgensen, District Director for: Tom Berryhill, California State Senator, 14th District &Frank Bigelow, California Assembly, 5th District. Calaveras County Board of Supervisors Chair Cliff Edson, Alpine County Supervisor Terry Woodrow and many, many more.
