Sonora, CA…From the Sonora Police Department…”On Thursday, April 18th, at about 6:45 pm, the Sonora Police Department received a call that a vehicle had crashed into a hotel room, located at 350 S. Washington Street. When the patrol Sergeant arrived on scene, he located 61-year-old Susan Steinmetz of Wisconsin still seated behind the wheel of her 2008 Honda Pilot. The Honda Pilot had launched over a retaining wall and into an unoccupied hotel room. Steinmetz told the Sergeant that she hit the gas instead of the brake while attempting to park.
The Sergeant assisted Steinmetz out of her vehicle and noticed signs of intoxication. After administering field sobriety tests, the Sergeant determined that Steinmetz was intoxicated at the time of the collision. She was arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and booked at the Tuolumne County Jail. Thankfully nobody was injured during this incident. The extent of the damage to the hotel is unknown.”
