Murphys, CA…Twenty-two year Calaveras County and late Murphys resident, Robert Duane Hall, passed away September 10th in Maui, HI from heart failure at age 77. Born in Utah, Bob served four years in the U.S. Navy, two of them aboard the aircraft carrier USS Midway, before pursuing a 45 year career in the freight-trucking and warehousing industry. He semi-actively retired to Calaveras County in 1998. During the intervening years, Bob worked for Sierra Energy, managing the retail convenience store and station in San Andreas, was employed by the Saddle Creek Golf Resort in Copperopolis, by the US Census Bureau, working on several survey projects, and in recent years, by Stevenot winery, Ironstone winery and the Bunting winery, where he was employed until his passing.
Bob was a committed Christian who attended the Chapel in the Pines, Mountain Ranch Community Church and, since 2007, Foothill Community Church in Angels Camp. One of Bob’s fondest memories, despite battling a fifteen-year heart condition, was his participation in a 2012 trip to Israel sponsored by Foothill Community church. Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Helen Kair Redick, daughters Jody Hall in Utah and Tammy Kristiansen in Florida, stepson Adrian Peng (Laura) in Oregon and stepdaughter Vanessa Lutz (Tommy) in Nevada.
In grateful thanks for his service to this nation, Bob will be interred at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Dixon, CA, on September 24, 2019. A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life at Foothill Community church, Angels Camp at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 12, 2019.
