Moccasin, CA…On September 22, 2019, at approximately 6:35 PM, Mr. Jose Figueroa, a 35 year old man from Bonita, CA was traveling in his 2018 Ford F-150 Raptor, northbound on State Route 49 and was stopped at the intersection with State Route 120 near Moccasin, CA. Ms. Glafira Montanez, a 35 year old woman from Groveland, CA, was traveling westbound on State Route 120, east of State Route 49, in her 2012 Scion XB at an unknown speed. Mr. Figueroa accelerated from the stop sign in an attempt to drive westbound on State Route 120, directly into the path of the Scion. The front of the Scion struck the right side of the Ford and the Scion became airborne, overturned, landing approximately 100 feet down the northern embankment of State Route 120, and collided into a ravine. The Ford came to rest along the right shoulder of westbound State Route 120. Airbags within both vehicles deployed.
Ms. Montanez was taken to Doctor’s Medical Center in Modesto, CA and treated for minor injuries. Two minors who were passengers in the Scion were also injured. An 8 year old female was flown to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, CA and is being treated for major injuries. A 2 year old male was taken to Adventist Health, Sonora, CA and treated for minor injuries. Alcohol and / or drugs are not suspected to be a factor in this collision.
