New Forest Meadows Podcast Shares Community Info and Interests

Murphys, CA…Tucked away in the lower level of a Forest Meadows home is a new community podcast studio, Forest Meadows Neighbors’ Podcast. The 30- to 45-minute recorded interviews will feature community topics, public improvement projects, upcoming events and interesting people in the area. Podcast host Don Burns is a 36-year-career publicist and newspaper editor, who moved to Forest Meadows two years ago with wife Linda from Discovery Bay. He retired as the Sacramento Public Library publicist, promoting its 28 library branches and 1,700 yearly programs.

“When I first arrived in Forest Meadows, I wanted to help improve communication within our gated mountain community. Soon, I redesigned our homeowners’ association website that provides neighborhood information to nearly 1,800 residents,” Burns said.

However, Burns realized his 600-home community’s quarterly newsletter, two Facebook pages, HOA website, town hall meetings and e-mail blasts give limited information to homeowners. He believed another public forum was needed to share greater details in a more personal and direct manner. Burns learned a small podcast studio was affordable, where he could store his audio-recorded interviews on his private website for all to listen online.

“I have given countless interviews, as a news reporter and agency spokesperson, throughout my media career. But hosting a podcast will be a first for me,” he stated. “I am looking forward to meeting new people in our area, who can provide useful information and share their personal stories.”

Among the first podcast interviews will be two local experts discussing house insurance in this wildfire-prone forest region.
