Angels Camp, CA…The Bret Harte FFA Chapter rings in the new year at their January FFA meeting with a special presentation from the Officer Team. Many of the officers had attended a leadership conference called Made for Excellence during their sophomore year. At this conference, the members had been introduced to the movement called, “Because I Said I would”. This social, nonprofit movement strived to better humanity by encouraging people to make promises which they write down on a card.

The promise should reflect an action that individual person wanted to improve on within themselves personally or professionally. The officers had been truly inspired and impacted by this movement, so they decided to share it with their FFA Chapter with a video presentation. Following the video, each officer shared their own “Because I said I would” cards that they filled out from the leadership conference, years ago, and shared it with their FFA membership. Finally, the Greenhand Officer team passed out pens and “Because I said I would” cards to FFA members in the audience so that they could participate in making their own promises for the new year.

The FFA Meeting was impactful and the members exceedingly kicked the year off to a mind blowing start because they said they would.
