Vehicle Theft Arrest in Rail Road Flat

Rail Road Flat, CA..On February 8, 2020, at about 11:20 AM The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office received a report of trespassing in the 100 block of Railroad Flat Rd., Railroad Flat. The reporting person stated he noticed a suspicious truck parked on his property. He asked the driver to leave the property; however, the driver refused to comply with the property owner’s requests. The property owner notified the Sheriff’s Office of the incident and requested a deputy to respond.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the property owner, who told them the driver of the vehicle was Jeremy Vernon David Costa (40 years old, San Andreas). Deputies began checking the area and eventually located Costa in the parking lot of the Railroad Flat General Store. While speaking wit h the deputies, Costa admitted he was at the property however, he denied the allegations of refusing to leave. During the investigation, deputies discovered the vehicle Costa was driving had been reported stolen from the Stockton area on February 5th, 2020. California Highway Patrol was requested to respond to assist with the investigation.

Suspect Jeremy Vernon David Costa was arrested and booked into the Calaveras County Jail for 10851 CVC, Vehicle Theft (Felony), and 4462.5 CVC Displaying False Registration (Misdemeanor). He is being held in the Calaveras County Jail with a bail of $25,000.00.
