…Early Spring Storm to Bring Snow to the Mountains of Interior
Northern California Tuesday and Wednesday…

* Snow: Total accumulations from 3 to 5 inches, locally up to 7
inches over higher terrain of the Coast Range and northern
Shasta County mountains; 6 to 10 inches possible over the
northern Sierra Nevada with locally higher amounts over a foot
over the higher Sierra elevations.

* Timing: Snow increases Tuesday with the heaviest period of snow
expected Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night. Snow showers with
lighter accumulations on Wednesday.

* Snow Levels: Generally 3000 to 4000 feet Tuesday, lowering to 1500
feet over the Shasta County mountains, to around 3000 feet over
the northern Sierra on Wednesday, locally lower at times.

* Temperatures: Highs dropping into the mid 20s to lower 40s, and
overnight lows into the teens and 20s.

* Winds: Wind gusts 30 to 50 mph at times on Tuesday over the
higher Sierra Nevada.

* Impacts: Snow covered roads, mountain travel delays, possible
chain controls and power outages.

* Synopsis: A weather system from the Gulf of Alaska will drop
southward and bring snow, colder temperatures and gusty winds to
the mountains of interior Northern California Tuesday and
Wednesday.
