Amador County Public Health Reports Contact Investigations

Amador County, CA – The Amador County Public Health Department confirms that contact investigations are underway related to two positive cases of COVID-19. These individuals are employed in Amador but do not reside within the county. During contact investigations all persons who were in close contact with a confirmed case are contacted, evaluated, and given further instructions. “These newly confirmed cases are an indication of the increasing circulation of the novel coronavirus in California, as expected, given the patterns in our state and region” says Dr. Rita Kerr, Amador County Health Officer.

“Our community should remain calm while remembering to take all appropriate steps for heightened precautions. Today’s new information reinforces the need for everyone to follow the Stay at Home Order and practice social distancing measures. They are intended to reduce the spread of the virus and protect community health.”

The new confirmed cases, who reside outside of the county, will not be included in the Amador case count.

The best ways to stay healthy and reduce the spread of respiratory illnesses including COVID-19:  Wash hands with liquid soap and water, and rubbing for at least 20 seconds, or using alcohol-based sanitizer if soap and water are not available.  Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing.  Stay home if you are sick and call ahead before seeking medical care.  Regularly clean high-touch surfaces.  When you have to go out for essential items practice social distancing, maintain 6 foot distance, minimize your time out and wash your hands as soon as possible afterward. The most current information on COVID-19 may be found on the Amador County website www.amadorgov.org.
