Amador County Public Health Confirms Third COVID-19 Case

Amador County, CA…The Amador County Public Health Department confirms an additional positive case of COVID-19 in an elderly Amador County resident. This new diagnosis is travel-associated and is not linked to community transmission. The individual is currently isolated at home and recovering. All household members and close contacts of this new case have been contacted, evaluated and provided further instructions. No further information on this case will be released to protect patient privacy. “We want our community to continue taking precautions and remember that you are safer at home” says Dr. Rita Kerr, Amador County Health Officer.

“We are fortunate to have the support of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and are actively increasing resources to prepare for community spread of this virus and provide a coordinated response with our local health care system partners.” The Stay at Home Order was issued by the Amador Health Officer on March 20, 2020.

The best way for all community members to reduce their risk of getting sick:  Wash hands with liquid soap and water, and rubbing for at least 20 seconds, or using alcohol-based sanitizer if soap and water are not available.  Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing.  Stay home if you are sick and call ahead before seeking medical care.  Regularly clean high-touch surfaces.  When you have to go out for essential items practice social distancing, maintain 6 foot distance, minimize your time out and wash your hands as soon as possible afterward.
