Ebbetts Pass Resident is 5th Confirmed Case of COVID-19 in Calaveras County

Arnold, CA…The 5th Confirmed Case of COVID-19 has been reported in Calaveras County. Over the weekend, Calaveras Public Health confirmed a new case of novel coronavirus or COVID-19. The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the County is now five. Two of the five cases have since recovered. This additional positive case is an older adult female with travel history who resides along the upper Highway 4 corridor. The exposure to COVID-19 occurred outside of the county.

Public Health staff are identifying persons who may have had close personal contact with this individual, including any friends, family members or healthcare professionals, to assess and monitor them for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 illness. Close personal contacts identified during this investigation will be placed under strict quarantine.

Keep Calaveras safe and healthy
 Stay at home as much as possible.
o Avoid being around sick people and maintain physical distancing, especially by staying at home
o Wash your hands often
o Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
 Keep your space
o Avoid close contact with people who are sick
o Create a space, at least 6 feet, between people
 Cover your face
o Wear a cloth face covering when you must be in public for essential activities such as going to the grocery store or picking up medication. Surgical masks and N-95 masks are in short supply and should be reserved for healthcare professionals.

Calaveras Public Health will continue to monitor this development. It is expected that
further cases of COVID-19 infection will be identified in Calaveras residents.
