Sonora, CA…The Stanislaus National Forest announced that most developed recreation sites will remain closed through June 15, 2020. The local forest order STF-16-2020-07 is scheduled to expire May 31. The new forest order, STF-16-2020-09, is effective from June 1, 2020 through June 15. A copy of the forest order will be posted on the Stanislaus National Forest web page as soon as it is available.
The Forest Service is working with county and local partners to reopen developed recreation sites for full access and ask that visitors be patient during this transition period. Be prepared for other options if your recreation site is closed, and whenever possible, recreate locally.
Visitors are asked to be aware that:
No trash removal is currently offered – please pack out all trash and waste
Most toilet facilities are currently closed – please plan accordingly
Avoid high-risk activities – law enforcement and search and rescue operations may be limited
If an area is crowded, please search for a less occupied location
Employee and public safety continues to be our number one priority as we closely monitor the situation and make changes accordingly.
The order does not close trails, trailheads, and general forest areas, which remain open for public use. For up-to-date information on the Stanislaus National Forest, visit: https://www.fs.usda.gov/stanislaus.
We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our national forests safe and healthy for everyone’s use.
