Butte Fire Debris Cleanup Updates

Arnold, CA…Cal-Waste has been working closely with county and state agencies regarding the clean up of fire related debris. Fire debris has the potential to contain hazardous levels of contaminants such as asbestos, lead and household chemicals thus must be handled in a safe manner. We are pleased to provide you information from Calaveras County regarding the options available.

Work with Cal Recycle and Calaveras County to cleanup your property for free! Because of the State of Emergency resulting from the Butte Fire, the county is eligible to participate in Cal Recycle’s Debris Removal Program. CalRecycle will only remove debris free of charge from properties whose owners have signed a Right-of-Entry form granting permission for the County to send CalRecycle onto the property to remove qualifying debris. Please contact Calaveras County Environmental Health at 209-754-6399 to get program details. Deadline to participate in the program is November 6th.

Clean the property yourself. However, self managed cleanups are required to meet state requirements. A Cleanup Plan must be submitted to Calaveras County Environmental Management Agency AND approved. Please call Environmental Health at (209)754-6399 for details.

Once you have your approved cleanup plan from CCEMA, you will need to forward a copy to us when you call to order your bin at (209)795-1532. We will use the information contained in your approved cleanup plan to determine what the disposal options are for your material.
