Training Exercise on November 21 for Calaveras Animal Disaster Service

San Andreas, CA…CADS will be conducting a Trailering & Communication Exercise on Nov 21 from 10am ~ noon. CADS responding team of trailers and vehicles will stage in San Andreas and will caravan through Glencoe and Wilseyville then return through Mountain Ranch to the staging area, checking radio communication along the route. Calaveras Animal Disaster Service – CADS
Training Exercise 11/21/2020
Objectives:
1. Familiarization with county roads from Wilseyville to San Andreas.
2. Test the concept of using pilot vehicles to lead evacuation trailers into a disaster area.
3. Test communications among responding vehicles using cell phones with handheld radios as
backup.
Scenario:
Respond to a request for animal evacuation at the intersection of Rail Road Flat Rd and Blizzard Mine
Rd.
Route:
Hwy 49 – San Andreas to Mokelumne Hill
Hwy 26 – Mokelumne Hill to Rail Road Flat Rd
Railroad Flat Road to Mountain Ranch Rd
Mountain Ranch Road to San Andreas
Pilot Vehicle:
The purpose of the pilot vehicle is to ensure that following trailers are alerted to:
• possible places en route where they can be turned around
• approaching vehicles where narrow roads may make it difficult to pass
Staging area – Calaveras Superior Court parking lot, 400 Government Center Dr, San Andreas
When: Saturday, November 21, 2020
Time: 10am – noon
ALERT: Some roads are narrow with tight corners. This route is NOT recommend
for trailers over 20ft long or those with minimal trailer experience. However, pilot vehicles
are encouraged.
