Winter Wellness is Focus of MTMC Virtual Event! Online Workshop is Feb. 18

San Andreas, CA…Mark Twain Medical Center will host a virtual workshop on Feb. 18 focusing on Winter Wellness with tips to help folks overcome “The Winter Blues.” It will be held via Zoom at 5:30 p.m. You must register in advance on the MTMC Webpage. “Every year winter weather can limit activities and make a person feel sluggish, even depressed,” says Doug Archer, MTMC President and CEO. “It’s commonly called the ‘Winter Blues’ or ‘Seasonal Slump’ — and because of the pandemic, it could be worse for many people this year.”

“Our Winter Wellness workshop will include MTMC experts providing a strategy that includes tasty, healthy foods, stay-at-home fitness and embracing your emotional being.”

He adds, “We are also including a focus on arthritis – which can become more of a challenge for folks during winter months. If you are the one in five Americans living with this painful condition, our medical team will provide insights to help you in this workshop.”

Dr. Pravina Somani will address why arthritis can worsen in cold weather, how you can better handle the symptoms and treatment options to consider. Hospital Nutrition Services will demonstrate Easy Recipes for
Savory Winter Dishes and the MTMC Physical therapy Team will share Stay-At-Home Fitness Tips.

Archer will co-host Winter Wellness with Kathy Northington, MTMC Community Board Chair and retired Calaveras County School Superintendent. They will also share insights into Coping With Seasonal Slump.

You must register to participate in the virtual workshop. Go to www.marktwainhospital.org

MTMC has gone virtual to continue its ongoing A Plan 4 Me workshop series in spite of pandemic restrictions on in-person gatherings. Winter Wellness is the second virtual workshop. The first, on Oct. 29, was dedicated to women’s health issues.
