Rep. McClintock and Rep. Jordan Travel to the Southern Border with GOP Members of the House Judiciary Committee

Washington, DC…Congressman McClintock serves as the Ranking Member on the House Judiciary Sub-Committee on Immigration. Last week, Congressman McClintock, his colleague Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH), and fellow GOP members of the House Judiciary Committee traveled to the United States-Mexico border.

After witnessing literally hundreds of illegal migrants crossing the border and turning themselves in to the Border Patrol, Congressman McClintock described his time at the border as “the most disturbing field tour that I’ve ever taken.” Congressman McClintock wants Americans to understand that we’re beyond the debate over whether this is a border crisis. The question now is whether we have a border at all.

Congressman McClintock shared that the most chilling words he heard during his trip were spoken by a Border Patrol agent who reminded him, “our border is your border” and the impact from the border surge will be felt in communities across the country. Groups in the company of children who are under seven have their basic biometric information taken down and then are dispatched to bus stations and transportation terminals to continue into the United States. Unaccompanied minors, or those claiming to be under eighteen, are taken into custody by Border Patrol, transferred to HHS, and then sent to their final destination, often to a family member who is an illegal alien.

Among his first acts as President, Joe Biden abandoned construction of the border wall, announced illegal immigrants would not be deported, and he ended the remain in Mexico policy for asylum seekers. This sent a powerful message. Gallup estimates there are 42 million people in Latin America and the Caribbean who want to come to the United States – now they can, and now they are.

CBP officers showed the Congressman and his colleagues $8,400,000 worth of illegal meth (pictured above) that was being moved during a SINGLE trip across our border. How are Americans helped by abandoning policies that deter mass waves of illegal immigration, unaccompanied children, and drug smugglers from coming to the United States?
