Angels Camp, CA…On July 2, 2021, at approximately 1122 hours, members of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) San Andreas Area and Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) engaged in a pursuit with a stolen Dodge Dart. Upon Termination of the pursuit, the driver of the Dodge fled the scene on foot, and the passenger was detained. At the termination point, a small grass fire was ignited. Members of CHP San Andreas, CCSO, Cal Fire, and Copperopolis Fire District worked quickly to successfully extinguish the fire. The fire was extinguished and contained to a small area in which no structures were affected. After an exhaustive search of the area the driver was unable to be located.
On July 6, 2021, Inyo County Sheriff’s Deputies along with Inyo County Probation, were able to successfully take the driver into custody without incident. The driver will be transported to a Juvenile Detention facility where he will face charges from the July 2, 2021, incident involving CHP San Andreas, CCSO, and Cal Fire.
