San Andreas, CA… Meet Oprah, a lovely, sleek black feline with long legs and tail and a super-shiny coat. Oprah is about three years old and can be shy when she first meets new people though very much enjoys attention once she gets to know you. She has a calm personality and absolutely adores having her ears and head scratched. In fact, she encourages you to keep going by gently licking your hand.

This sweet girl would likely do best in a quiet household without young children who may not understand the need to “go slow” and allow her time to adjust to a new household. She has also never been outside and should remain an indoors only kitty. As with all cats available for adoption, Oprah is up to date on her routine vaccinations and has been micro-chipped. Already spayed, she can go home with you today!

Animal Services is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Tuesday – Saturday (closed for lunch from 1-2 p.m.). Currently, the Calaveras shelter remains open for visitors wishing to adopt. We are, however, limiting viewing to one person at a time for COVID precautions. Please understand there may be a wait for you to view the shelter animals, many of which still await their forever homes. Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!

When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at 80% or above capacity, the total adoption fee will be 50% off––reduced to $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats who arrive at the shelter already altered is $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, any time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts any pet over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $5.
