Spencer Roark, 27 from Escalon Lost his Life in Hwy 4 Motorcycle Collision

Vallecito, CA…The sad notifications have been made to family members and it can now be reported that Spencer Roark, 27 from Escalon was the young man who perished in the Vallecito area collision. On Sunday, March 6, 2022, at approximately 6:25 pm, a CHP officer on patrol in Murphys observed a motorcycle fail to stop at a stop sign. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop for the violation, but the rider of the motorcycle fled from the officer. The officer pursued the motorcycle west on SR-4 from Murphys, and Spencer Roark, 27 from Escalon continued to flee at a high rate of speed. As the 2021 Harley Davidson negotiated a curve in the road through Vallecito, the rider allowed his motorcycle to cross over the double yellow lines and into the eastbound lane. At that point, A Bay Point woman was driving her Audi eastbound on SR-4 at the speed limit. The motorcycle crashed head-on into the front of the Audi.

The rider was ejected from the motorcycle and landed on the shoulder of SR-4 north of the roadway. The CHP officer arrived immediately after the crash, and along with a motorist who had stopped to assist, attempted life saving measures on the rider.

A short time later, emergency personnel from Murphys Fire Department arrived and took over patient care. Unfortunately, life saving measures were unsuccessful and the rider succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Audi sustained minor injuries and declined an ambulance. The passenger in the Audi was transported to Mark Twain Medical Center for minor injuries.

The use of alcohol/drugs in this collision is under investigation.

The identity of Party #1 is pending notification of the next of kin.
