Angels Camp, CA…On 7/1/2022, CHP dispatchers received a report of a traffic collision with a vehicle down the embankment at 0627 hours. Upon arrival at the scene, first responders located a solo vehicle that had overturned, approximately 150 feet down an embankment. The solo occupant had been ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries. Preliminary investigation show that Party #1 was traveling south on SR-49 south of Redhill Rd. For an unknown reason the driver failed to follow a curve in the roadway. The vehicle traveled off the roadway and overturned an unknown amount of times. While overturning, the unrestrained driver was ejected. The vehicle came to rest on its wheels, off of the roadway.

Due to the darkness and the location of the vehicle it is unknown the exact time of the collision.

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a contributing factor in this collision.

The name of the driver is being withheld until positive identification and next of kin are notified.
