All Lanes of SR-140 Route to Yosemite Near Briceburg Now Open

Mariposa, CA…The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has concluded its work on State Route 140 (SR-140) near Briceburg to clear away debris and repair the road after a rockslide on Sunday, January 15, 2023, forced its closure. All lanes are now open.

Crews made safe and fast progress clearing the area and making needed repairs after the closure. Once a portion of the affected roadway was clear, one-way controls were in place 24 hours each day to allow traffic between Midpines and El Portal.

The full reopening of SR-140 came far sooner than the initial mid-February estimate. This was due to favorable weather conditions, equipment availability, plus the hard work and dedication of the Caltrans maintenance personnel assigned to the project.

Motorists now have full access to and from Yosemite National Park via Routes 140, 120, and 41.
For the safety of workers and other motorists, please Be Work Zone Alert.

As always, Caltrans invites travelers to visit quickmap.dot.ca.gov or call 1-800-427-7623 (ROAD) for the latest state highway information.
