Dorrington, CA…EPFD was dispatched to a possible roof collapse in Dorrington this morning. When crews arrived they found a cabin that had exploded. It is suspected that a gas leak within the structure found an ignition source, luckily no one was at the cabin when the incident occurred.

Please keep your propane tank valve dug out and cleared of snow. This did not have an effect on the cabin exploding, however, EPFD crews had to search, locate, and dig access to the propane tank to shut gas off to the cabin. Keeping your tank valve dug out will allow the gas company to fill/check your tank and if you have an emergency at your home, our firefighters can quickly shut the gas off.
