Valley Springs Residents Booked on Multiple Felony Charges

Jackson, CA…On March 19th, 2023, at approximately 11:45 am, Jackson Police Officers were dispatched to an abandoned house located in the 100 block of Broadway. The reporting party advised she saw 2 males kicking in the door to the residence and the males were wearing black hoodies. Multiple Jackson Police Officers responded and as they arrived, multiple subjects fled on foot from the residence in multiple directions. Jackson Police Officers chased the individuals and were able to detain 2 males in the Best Western parking lot. The first male was identified as 20-year-old Cruz Njay Jones, a Valley Springs resident. The other male was a 17-year-old juvenile, also from Valley Springs. Each was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm.

Officers on scene advised there was an outstanding juvenile male and female. Jackson Police Officers located the outstanding male running west on the north shoulder of Highway 88, where after a short foot chase, the officers lost visual contact of the male. He was described as a white male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black face mask that concealed his face from nose down, and dark colored pants.

The female juvenile was observed entering a silver sedan on Highway 49 and a felony car stop was conducted on Highway 49 near Main Street. The 16-year-old female juvenile passenger was taken into custody. The driver of the vehicle was not related to the call for service and was just a passerby that stopped to help out an individual they believed to need assistance.

Jones was booked into the Amador County Jail on multiple felony charges and the male and female juveniles were booked at the Amador County Probation Department. Jackson Police Officers and an Amador County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant continued canvassing the area for the outstanding male but were unable to locate him. A be-on-the-lookout was sent to the surrounding agencies for the outstanding juvenile.

This is an ongoing investigation and anyone with information is asked to call the Jackson Police Department at 209-223-1771.
