San Andreas, CA…The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) is conducting a prescribed burning operation on the Wooster Vegetation Management Plan (VMP) site. This project is located off Lanford Pacheco Road, north of Hunt Road in the Salt Springs Valley area of Calaveras County. Smoke may be visible in the area during the prescribed burn. This prescribed burn is designed to reduce hazardous fuels in within the project area.

The prescribed burn of approximately 60 acres of masticated oak and brush originally scheduled Tuesday, September 26, 2023 is being rescheduled due to the approaching weather system. The prescribed burn is anticipated to occur on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. Burning operations will be conducted from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., contingent on favorable conditions. Resources assigned will consist of five engines, one bulldozer, one S70i FireHawk, and two handcrews.
