Valley Springs, CA…On November 29, 2023, at approximately 1444 hours, the California Highway Patrol was dispatched to a collision on SR-26 west of Shelton Road. P-1 was driving V-1 westbound on SR-26. P-2 was driving V-2 eastbound on SR-26. P-1 accelerated to pass slower moving traffic in the westbound lane, and began traveling westbound in the eastbound lane. The front of V-1 collided with the front of V-2.

Emergency personnel responded and life saving measures were attempted. P-2 succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

Alcohol and or drugs and not suspected as a cause of this collision. This collision is still under investigation.
