Train Derailment in Downtown Sonora Snarls Traffic & Damages Parked Vehicles

Sonora, CA…Railroad officials advise it will take considerable time to bring in the equipment to move the derailed cars. There is no access to Hospital Road between South Washington Street and Nevada Street. Residents and other traffic needing to access other portions of Hospital Road will need to use South Washington Street via Hwy 108 and use Nevada Street by way of Calaveras Street.

We anticipate access to the west portion of Hospital Road to be made available by this evening, however there will be diversions in place routing traffic through the TC Behavioral Health parking lot.

The Post Office is open.
