Pilot Walks Away (Ok Helicoptered Away) from Plane Crash Above New Hogan

Valley Springs, CA…Firefighters and First Responders were alerted of a plane crash yesterday afternoon in Valley Springs. The single-engine plane crashed in the backcountry of Mt. Buena Vista above New Hogan Lake. The non-injured pilot was able to contact authorities by phone regarding the incident. The Sheriff’s Department was able to ping the pilot’s phone, and the search and rescue effort began.

Due to the steep terrain and remote location, a CHP helicopter was requested to assist in the search and rescue. The CHP helicopter was able to locate the crash site and rescue the uninjured female pilot just before sunset.

Details regarding the crash will be under the investigation of the FAA.

The pilot had departed from the Calaveras County Airport in San Andreas before the crash.
