Copperopolis, CA…On April 21st, 2024, the town of Copperopolis witnessed a dispute between housemates that required intervention from the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office. What started as a civil standby during a roommate’s move-out worsened when it was discovered that Doobie, the beloved one-year-old schnauzer of one of the roommates, had been reported missing.
During the move-out, one roommate claimed they had taken Doobie to a local shelter. Concerned for Doobie’s welfare, the Sheriff’s Office dug deeper after discovering the dog was, in fact, not at any shelter. After a careful investigation, it was revealed that the remaining roommate had hidden Doobie in an attempt to keep him from his owner.
We are relieved to report that Doobie has been safely reunited with his rightful owner, thanks to the efforts of our local law enforcement. Criminal charges have been forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for the concealment. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of resolving disputes amicably and ensuring the safety and well-being of all family members, pets included.
