Sen. Marie Alvarado-Gil calls out Governor’s “Knee-Jerk Theatrics”

Sacramento, CA…Today, Sen. Marie Alvarado-Gil (R-Jackson) released the following statement responding to Governor Newsom’s call for a special session: “This is another example of how disconnected the governor and progressives are from everyday Californians. Rising costs, surging crime, the need for better economic opportunities, and a chance for families to thrive — these are the issues that people care about.

“Californians know that the supermajority’s agenda has abandoned them, and leaves behind the most vulnerable it claims to protect. The people have had enough, and they made that crystal clear by passing Proposition 36—a crucial step toward making our communities safer.

“In the recent special session on gas prices, Republicans put forward real solutions only to see them dismissed for yet another one-sided approach. Will this session deliver more of the same? Instead of knee-jerk theatrics, this should be an opportunity to work together and focus on actually improving Californians’ lives.”

Senator Alvarado-Gil represents the 4th Senate District including the Counties of Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Inyo, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Mono, Nevada, Placer, Stanislaus, and Tuolumne.

It’s the gas companies and/or gas stations that are screwing us the most. About end of August they raise the prices up to $0.50 a gallon so when the winter mix starts to deliver, which should be about $0.50 cheaper, the cost goes back where it was and the consumer never gets a break. Typical retail move, raise prices 10% and the advertise a 10% discount. They think we are stupid and can’t see what they are doing.

Then around March the gas prices start to rise a little just before the summer mix is due to arrive along with the higher cost.

As far as the gas taxes go, the majority voted for it so you brought it on yourself.
