CHP Officer Involved Collision in Drytown

Jackson, CA…November 23, 2024 at approximately 1040 hours, CHP Officer Wade (21793) was on patrol driving a black and white marked patrol vehicle (V-1) northbound SR-49 approaching China Road in Dry Town, at 35 mph. Party 2 (P-2, Giannini) was driving his truck (V-2), the same direction, the second car behind the patrol vehicle (V-1). CHP Officer Wade observed a vehicle following too close to the vehicle ahead of it coming towards him in the southbound lane.

Officer Wade attempted to make a traffic stop on the violator. He pulled into China Road on his right to begin a U-turn. He allowed the first vehicle behind him to pass by, then entered the northbound lane in an attempted U-turn. The front left of the patrol vehicle crashed into the right side of V-2, in V-2’s lane. V-1 and V-2 pulled over to the right shoulder. No one was injured during this crash. Both parties waited for emergency personnel to arrive.
