Fast ForWord emphasizes the link between spoken and written language to guide students in becoming proficient grade level readers. It works by exercising the brain to process more efficiently; the way physical workouts train the body to be more fit and strong. It requires a significant commitment on the part of the student and his or her family. Sessions run for 90 minutes, five days a week, for six weeks

The Murphys classes will be at 3:30 p.m. in the clinic, 150 Big Trees Rd., adjacent to the post office. In Sonora, the sessions will be at 9 a.m. in space provided by Susan and Clay Maddox, CPA, at 80 S. Forrest Rd. The cost for the program is $1,500 per child, but financial assistance may be available. A placement test is required prior to beginning the program.

Mind Builder is a unique learning system based on how the brain works and the best way for children to learn. This program identifies the underlying causes of learning inefficiency and then addresses the symptoms. It offers effective strategies to improve reading, spelling, attention, listening and memory skills, communication, following directions, and increasing motivation and self-confidence in learning. The program, which will run for four weeks, succeeds because it changes how an individual uses their brain.

Mind Builder is a one-on-one class consisting of 5-6 highly motivating games and activities that change on a daily basis. Proven tools, materials, and techniques are used to target specific learning issues and improve reading fluency. The cost is $375 for eight private half-hour sessions.

Because Mind Matters is a non-profit clinic it is able to offer its programs at a reduced price. It also seeks charitable contributions and grants to help defray the cost for families that need assistance. For further information, contact Mind Matters at 728-2184 or mindmattersclinic.org.
