Calaveras County, CA…The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has recently completed an $823,000 rumble strip safety project on State Route 49 (SR-49) at various locations throughout Calaveras County. This project installed rumble strips which are ground into the pavement and designed to alert drivers when their vehicles leave their traffic lane. As tires pass over the rumble strips, drivers can hear the noise and feel the vibration produced by these rumble strips, which were installed at the following locations…

· Just north of the Tuolumne/Calaveras County line to just south of Frogtown Road,

· Just north of Copello Drive to Airport Road,

· Pool Station Road to the Calaveras/Amador County line.

Now completed, this project will enhance safety throughout Calaveras County.
