West Point, CA…A 62 year old West Point man was driving his Hyundai westbound on State Route 26 just east of Bucksaw Lane at a stated speed of 45-50 MPH, while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Due to his level of intoxication, he drove across the eastbound lane of State Route 26, off of the roadway and into a speed limit sign. The Hyundai then collided into a power pole and finally into a tree.

After the collision, the vehicle came to rest on its wheels, facing in a southerly direction down the eastbound embankment against a tree. He was arrested for 23152(a)vc – Misd. DUI.

Power was knocked out in the West Point area and PG&E was notified of the downed power pole.
SR-26 was closed while PG&E replaced the power pole.
