Sonora, CA…The Stanislaus National Forest announces some changes for its key staff members, including new hires and a temporary assignment for Jeanne Higgins, Forest Supervisor. Higgins, Stanislaus National Forest Supervisor since September 2014, will be the acting Associate Deputy Chief for the National Forest System through March 2017 in Washington, D.C.

Scott Tangenberg, Deputy Forest Supervisor, becomes the acting Forest Supervisor during Higgins’ absence. Tangenberg has been the Deputy Forest Supervisor on the Stanislaus National Forest since 2013 and has 16 years of forest service. He is known for building coalitions and working collaboratively with partners. Tangenberg holds a master’s degree from University of Utah and a bachelor’s degree from University of Colorado, both in geology.

Tom Hall will become the acting Deputy Forest Supervisor while Tangenberg fills the Forest Supervisor’s role. Hall is currently the District Ranger on the South Fork Management Unit of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. Prior to that he was the environmental coordinator on the San Bernardino National Forest from 2008 to 2013. He attended Colorado State University, where he earned bachelor and master degrees in forestry with a fire science concentration. He begins his four-month detail on the Stanislaus Nov. 28.
